Who is Marcus Whitfield?
Marcus leads the running, cycling and endurance category at Fitness Tracking Guide. He coaches a London-based amateur marathon group and has personally run 14 marathons and three ultras, which is convenient: every running app we rank gets used during an actual training block, not just sniffed at on a treadmill. He ran the 15-week, 8-reviewer running cohort whose data feeds the running ranking, comparing every app against a Garmin Forerunner reference watch and a Stryd pod.
On the strength side, Marcus was the second reviewer on our 15-week programmed-lifting cohort and writes the heart-rate-zone and training-load explainers that sit under most of our endurance reviews.
